Caring for others wasn't simply something Beatrice did; it was who she was.
Beatrice L. Schejbal, nee Bouchonville, age 85, of Oak Park. Beloved wife of James F. Schejbal; loving mother of Leah M. Gonzalez, James J. Schejbal, Thomas P. (Tracy) Schejbal, Michael C. (Sonia) Schejbal, Joseph M. (Jana) Schejbal, William E. (Debbie) Schejbal, Jennifer A. (Mike) Li, Sarah D. Benway and Amy E. (Rob) Whaley; cherished grandmother of Gabe, Olivia, William, Annie, Abbie, Ellie, Josh, Allie, Lauren, Lucas, Lindsey, Logan, Landon, Omar, Diana, Temica, Christopher, Annabella, Taylor, Matthew, Keira, Cori, Liam, Stella and Caden; proud great-grandmother of 15; dear sister of Sr. Ruella Bouchonville, O.P., and the late Gregory (Barbara) Bouchonville.
Beatrice lived a life defined by faith, family, compassion and a genuine love for others. A dedicated nurse, she devoted her career to caring for those in need, but her nurturing spirit extended far beyond her profession. Whether she was looking after children, helping a neighbor or offering comfort to a friend, Beatrice had a remarkable way of making everyone feel loved, welcomed and cared for.
A devoted Catholic, Beatrice was actively involved in her faith community, generously volunteering her time at Ascension Church in Oak Park. She also shared her love of children and reading as a reading grandma at Irving School and was a proud Friend of Brookfield Zoo.
Above all, Beatrice had a heart for people. Her home was always open, often filled with family, friends, neighbors and anyone who needed a place to feel welcome. She never hesitated to lend a helping hand, offer a listening ear or make room for one more at the table. Caring for others wasn't simply something Beatrice did; it was who she was.
Her greatest joy was her family, and the love she shared with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren will remain a lasting part of her legacy. Beatrice will be remembered for her generous heart, unwavering faith, warm hospitality and the countless lives she touched through her kindness. Her legacy of love and service will live on in all those fortunate enough to have known her.
