Elizabeth M. "Betty" Dvorak nee Gill, age 91, of North Riverside, IL, passed away July 22, 2026.

She was the devoted wife of 54 years of the late Charles D. Dvorak; proud mother of seven – Charlie

(Selene Forkes), Janet Dorrance, Carol Ann, Lizzy (Kevin) Lyne, the late Jeanne (Bruce) Nolden,

James, and Patty (Joe Carbonara); Loving grandmother of twenty-one –Nolden family – Nora (Mike

Berken), Katie (Oliver) Moore, Allison, and Maggie (Isaac) Patterson, Dorrance family – Tommy

(Stephanie), Daniel (Isabelle), Jacob, John, and Ben, Lyne family – Erin, Ellie, Bobby, Mikey (Carly),

Timmy, Sean and Pat, Carbonara family – Jillian, Annie, and Grace, and Dvorak family – Drew and

Lauren; great grandmother of four – Lucy Moore, Teddy and Willow Patterson and Lillian Berken;

Beloved daughter of the late Thomas & the late Elizabeth Gill nee Kennedy; last living sibling of the

late Thomas (the late Laverne), the late William, the late Juliette (the late Louis) Rerucha and the late

Phyllis (the late Donald) Houlihan; and aunt and great aunt of many.

Betty was a former parishioner and student of Sacred Heart Chicago, Pilsen area, Harrison High

School, Jones Commercial, and Loyola University. She was a journalist for the Chicago Daily News

and an accountant for Ernest D. Dimonte accounting for over 30 years.

Known as an independent woman long before it was a movement, Betty voted in every election.

She was an active member of Mater Christi Church for over 60 years, working with the P.A.D.S.

shelter and Housing Forward. Betty served with the Mater Christi Women’s Guild and held different

offices and was named 2004 Woman of the Year. She also belonged to the St. Paul VI Woman’s

Society.

Betty could always be found with her cowbell cheering on countless kids at their activities and sports.

Along with her husband, Charles, Betty believed education was the greatest gift that could never be

taken away and provided college scholarships to their grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Betty, also known as “Aunt Chub” or mom to all who crossed the doorway was never happier than

feeding a crowd around her kitchen table. No one left without a full stomach, a hug or a kick in the

pants when needed.

She loved her family and was so loved.

Feeding the homeless was dear to her heart.
