It is with great sadness that the family of Gena Silva announces her passing on Saturday, February 16th, at the age of 88 in her home in Richton Park, Illinois.

She was the daughter of Francisco Silva and Genoveva Silva (Torres) who were direct descendants of the original 32 settling families of Albuquerque, New Mexico, in 1692. She was married to the late Vincent Delgado. She is survived by Frank Velarde of Toledo, Ohio; Michael Velarde of Kankakee, Illinois; Jean Ayala (Nathan Ayala) of North Riverside, Illinois, and Theresa Riggs of Chicago, Illinois, and by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by siblings Mae Williamson of Wisconsin and Dorothy Jimenez of California. She is predeceased by siblings Josephine Salazar of Chicago, Bill Silva of Missouri, Romelia Ortiz of Missouri, Eloy Silva of Chicago, Elvira Palomar of California, Arthur Silva of Chicago, Samuel Silva of California, Frank Silva of California and son-in-law, James Nicholas Riggs of Chicago, Illinois.

She loved good food. She made great tostadas and potatoes in a most delightful way. She also loved going to the movies, dressing stylishly and had a good sense of humor. She will be remembered for being a good mother and raising and caring for her four children.
