Ismael M. “Mike” Galvez, age 54 of Cicero. Beloved husband of Josie Gamboa-Galvez, loving father of Imilio DelaCruz-Galvez, Imanuel DelaCruz-Galvez and Ian Sebastian DelaCruz-Galvez, cherished son of Cesario Galvez and the late Elisa Marquez-Flores, dear brother of Humberto (Angelica) Galvez, Artemio Galvez, Estela Galvez, Maira (Paul Hettinger) Galvez, Olga (William) Sauer, Gamaniel Galvez and Cesar Galvez, fond uncle to many. Ismael is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Mike lived a life defined by kindness, connection, and an unwavering love for the people around him. He had a remarkable ability to make others feel welcome, valued and like lifelong friends. A true social butterfly, Mike found joy in bringing people together and cherished every opportunity to spend time with his family and the many friends he made throughout his life.
Mike was deeply devoted to his community. As the proud former owner of Mi Familia in Berwyn, he built far more than a successful business, he built lasting relationships. Through his generosity, warm personality and genuine interest in others, he became a familiar and beloved face to countless people whose lives he touched. His commitment to serving others extended beyond his business, as he was always eager to volunteer and give back to the community he loved so much.
Athletic by nature, Mike enjoyed staying active throughout his life, but golfing held a special place in his heart. Whether on the course with friends or sharing laughs after a round, he appreciated the camaraderie and simple pleasures that came with the game.
Those who knew Mike will remember his infectious sense of humor, his generosity and his incredible resilience. He had a gift for making people smile, even during difficult times, and his strength of character inspired everyone around him. In recent years especially, Mike demonstrated remarkable courage and determination, facing life's challenges with grace, dignity, and an unbreakable spirit.
Above all, Mike valued relationships. He believed that life's greatest blessings were the people we share it with and he invested deeply in his family, his friendships, and the countless meaningful connections he made over the years. His legacy lives on in the love he gave, the laughter he shared, and the many lives he enriched through his compassion and generosity.
Mike will be profoundly missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His life reminds us that the greatest measure of a person is not found in what they possess, but in the love they give, the lives they touch, and the community they help build.
