James J. Sup, age 89 of Lyons. U.S. Army Veteran. Beloved husband of Lillian, nee Rampage, loving father of Deborah (Jason) Schemmel and James Sup, cherished grandfather of Christopher (Joanne) Sup, James Sup, Kyra (Ben) Whitty and Josh Schemmel, dear brother of Russell (Patricia) Sup, fond uncle of Kristie Sup and Bryan (Diana) Sup.
After highschool, James joined the US Army as a marksman and served during the Korean War where he received a good conduct medal. Shortly after his discharge, he met his wife, Lillian 'Lily", of 65 years at a New Year's Eve party in 1957. They were married in 1958.
He worked at Western Union for almost 10 years and was laid off. He then went to work at International Harvester, now known as Navistar. He retired from there on 9/30/1993.
He enjoyed Trap Shooting. In the early 1970's, he won first place at the Illinois State Shoot where he got a patch for hitting 200 consecutive clay pigeons. He earned many trophies during his days shooting. He also made many good friends and loved having lunch at the gun club after his shoot.
He was also big into the "CB" radio when it was big in the 70's as well. He and his wife had a large group of friends they made through their CB club and often went out to dinner together.
His favorite restaurants were Red Lobster and Texas Roadhouse! But he loved homemade roast pork with sauerkraut and dumplings, which is what he was craving before he died.
He will be missed by all who knew him.
