I taught with Rita for seventeen years at the Mary Jane Kennedy School and Westchester Middle School. She was a patient mentor and taught me everything I knew about teaching elementary math. Mrs. Zdun was my favorite teacher of all. It was a privilege to be one of her students. I often think about her and the way she treated me with such respect which, to a kid, was unusual. I always meant to thank her for that. Ive always held her in very high regard and believe need more teachers like her. My prayers and thoughts go out to her family and friends.

Mrs. Zdun was an extremely patient teacher for this 8th grader who excelled in all subjects BUT math. She tried every way she could think of to get me to understand pre-algebra but kept her cool when the lightbulb refused to illuminate. She never gave up on me, though. I am an ELAR teacher now but think of her at times when I have a struggling student. She was a fantastic teacher and person who encouraged me to read to first graders because she saw my potential to be a teacher. Rest peacefully, Mrs. Zdun.

Mrs. Zdun taught me alot about math and also about life. Her words from Algebra ring true, what you do to one side you must equally do to the other side. Went on to get an engineering degree from Notre Dame with her inspiration. Thank you.
